ABOUT THE TRAIL
The Midcoast Cheese Trail started in 2016 with a Maine Department of Agriculture grans and included Appleton Creamery and ME Water Buffalo Co. In the following years it grew toinclude nine Midcoast Maine creameries that are both farms and cheesemaking operations and we added six area farms that are also wineries or breweries. This part of Maine is rich with agriculture and abundant countryside.
In 2021 many of our members’ are offering online purchasing options and preorder for pick up at their farm stands, farmrers’ markets or through CSAs and buying clubs. Some have self serve or full service stands at the farm.
We’re hoping for a more normal year in 2021. Due to COVID-19, we are not planning trail-wide events as we have in other years, but some members will plan events and participate in whatever comes of Maine Open and more. We’ll keep you updated as event info becomes available. If you are visiting any farms, please know that COVID-19 protocols are in place and observe Maine’s masking and distancing guidelines. Check with our trail members before you plan your visit. Find links for all Trail members here.
