Lakin’s Gorges Cheese is made at East Forty Farm, a small family farm in Waldoboro, Maine on the Medomak River.
Allison Lakin fell in love with making cheese in 2002, and launched Lakin’s Gorges Cheese in 2011. She makes fresh and aged cheese using Jersey cow milk from Springdale Farm and her own growing herd.
The cheeses are all original recipe: Fresh Basket Ricotta, Jig, Prix de Diane, Opus 42, Morgan, Cascadilla Bleu, Luna and Grandiflora. Rockweed was introduced in 2019 and with its distinctive ribbon of powdered seaweed in the center, went on to win a Silver Medal at the Big E and be named one of the top 10 foods in New England by Yankee Magazine.
The cheese is available in restaurants and shops throughout Maine, as well as in the farm store, Monday – Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-5. Ordering for barnside pick-up available through the Farm Store link on our websites. We sell only products produced at the farm, including forest grazed, whey fed pork; charcuterie; and cutting boards.
